Dark Emperador - 2 - From Block to Slab

This project documents a further Dark Emperador marble production run, following the disciplined path from quarry block selection to final 2 cm honed slab preparation. Recognised for its deep brown background and refined light vein movement, Dark Emperador again requires close technical evaluation at every stage so that structural stability and visual depth are preserved through a new cutting and finishing cycle oriented toward large-format interior use. The process begins with detailed block inspection at quarry level. Each block is reviewed for background consistency, vein distribution, crack formation, internal stress zones, and overall structural soundness. Because Dark Emperador has a dense visual character and honed surfaces emphasise tonal depth while keeping reflection controlled, block orientation is planned carefully to support vein continuity, improve slab yield, and maintain a balanced composition across bundle K6165. Where project layouts call for mirrored sequences, slab pairing and bookmatch selection are planned during orientation and cutting. During the cutting phase, slab thickness calibration to 2 cm, dimensional accuracy toward the 295 × 165 cm format, and cutting direction are controlled closely. Particular attention is given to reducing unnecessary structural stress while protecting the contrast between the rich brown ground and the lighter vein network. After cutting, slabs are finished honed, with the finishing stage focused on matte surface clarity, tactile quality, and bundle-level consistency. Quality control confirms micro-fracture screening, vein balance, bookmatch readiness, dimensional tolerance, and export suitability before slabs are prepared for stock as MRQ-DE-002. The result is a technically controlled slab preparation process that supports export quality standards, bookmatch-led interior schemes, and architectural use in flooring, wall cladding, bathrooms, and bespoke architectural details.
